Donne Rundle
Donné Rundle studied fine art for 2 years at Wits Tecknicon and then set up an art workshop with Dumasani Mabaso in Johannesburg in 1982. In 1985 was a trainee at the “Ateliers Varan” workshop in South Africa and Paris and was part of the creation of the Direct Cinema. From then on she worked in firm in South Africa and abroad up to 2011. In 2012 she had her first solo exhibition in 30 years at Spaza Art joburg titled i love ink, Solo exhibition Grahamstown National Arts Festival held at the Dakawa Community Arts and Craft Center, 2013 I love ink ii, Group exhibition gallery on 6th Parkhurst, Seven artists’ open studio’s, Plettenbergbay, 2014.
Rundle’s oeuvre includes artworks which explore contemporary South African issues; each artwork reflects a collage of stories. More recently Rundle has been producing enigmatic figure drawings rendered in acrylic, ink, pencil and charcoal on paper. The artworks celebrate South Africa and they are a true reflection of the beauty and diversity of South Africans.
