Norman Catherine

Norman was born in East London, South African in September 1949.  

He was educated at the Technical School of Art where he held his first show in 1969.  

He has had 25 solo exhibitions and his work is displayed in numerous public private collections, both locally and internationally.  

Catherine’s work has spanned to both sculptural and two dimensional, as both a sculptor and painter.  

This has given his work a broad interpretative quality.  He works in a wide range of media, from oil, acrylic, watercolour and airbrush, as well as wood, fibre, glass, wire and metal.

Norman Catherine’s artwork has undergone several formal changes, spanning over his 40 year long career.  

Catherines visual trademarks have included rough-edged comical and nightmarish forms, rendered in brash cartoon colours.
